Tom Sutherland and Philip Matthew were involved in this project, but the main task of co-ordinating the work at Sasthamkara fell to Chandra Babu, who is now responsible for our CDSA project in the Western Ghats.

All of our nine families, five Hindu and four Christian, were ‘outnet';that is people who fall outside the net of government housing provision.

The smallest of gifts makes a HUGE difference.

What we did...

We actually spent £25,000 which bought one third of an acre of land at Sasthamkara and built 9 houses, each connected to mains water and electricity.

Our houses were built to comply with Tamil Nadu government guidelines, which include proper foundations, cement block rendered walls, cement roofs, two rooms, a kitchen and a toilet.
